Molly Burt-Westvig is a Philadelphia based visual artist who works across modes and media, including painting and installation. Her primary focus is the landscape, through her bodies of work she takes both a birds eye view of the genre through its art historical baggage, and a grounded perspective as she works with materials salvaged from Philadelphia's scrap yards and streets to propose liberatory future frameworks through the destruction of symbols of American power, masculinity, and progress. Throughout her work, she reintroduces the elements of the natural world to scenes and objects of city life, using landscape as a tool to reclaim and propose a future brighter than the one currently before us.
